Pop Up Bedroom
My eldest child recently left for university. It’s an emotional time for everyone as she embarks on a new, exciting chapter of her life. As a creative, I pondered over what I could give her to show her how much we will all miss her. Appreciating that she will doubtless have moments when she misses us, I decided a little memento of home would be perfect.
I have long been interested in paper engineering and pop up artefacts, admiring the work of artists like Helen Friel, Duncan Birmingham, Trish Phillips and Helen Musselwhite to name a few.
I thought a little pop up card depicting a corner of her bedroom would fit the bill and set about designing and experimenting. I used 300 gsm card stock, water colour and a black fine liner and eventually came up with something that I’m glad to say she recognised immediately.
